Deepika Padukone: I Miss Mumbai In The Rains

Deepika Padukone
Deepika is away shooting for Tamasha in the beautiful locales of Corsica, France. But the actress says she is missing the Mumbai rains.

The city has been witnessing heavy showers this month, but Deepika left for her shoot in July and has been there since. Deepika loves the monsoons and the spectacular view from her flat during the rains. Deepika lives in a high-rise tower that overlooks the sea.

When at home, she usually sits in her balcony in the mornings with her filter coffee and watches the rain.

But DPad may miss a major chunk of this year's monsoon as she will return to India only in August. Once she wraps shooting for Tamasha, she will start shooting for Shoojit Sircar's Piku.

Deepika says, "I love the monsoons and I thoroughly miss being in Mumbai during this time. I'll try and make the most of it on my return."

First Look: Deepika Padukone's Quest to Find Fanny

First Look: Deepika Padukone's Quest to Find Fanny
A still from the movie Finding Fanny
If you are tired of masala potboilers, run of the mill comedies and action flicks, then Finding Fanny seems promising. The movie, the first look of which is out, is about the journey of five Goans who embark on a road trip in search of an old postman's (Naseeruddin Shah) childhood love Fanny Fernandes. (Also Read: Arjun Kapoor Sports Bohemian Look in Finding Fanny)

The trailer opens with Deepika Padukone and Arjun Kapoor holding hands and peering at a hill facing the sea. Giving them company is Dimple Kapadia, who comforts a dejected Pankaj Kapur. Deepika says, "Love never dies, it's somewhere, sometimes you just have to find it."

Scene 2: A flashback of Deepika Padukone, looking quite cheerful as she attends her husband's funeral. She recalls her wedding day recounting that it was the first time she was ever kissed, 15 minutes before her husband (Ranveer Singh) choked to his death."I'm a virgin," she adds. Dimple Kapadia plays a strong headed lady who catches the fancy of Pankaj Kapur.

The characters are, at the very least, quirky.

Sample this: Arjun Kapoor asks Dimple about the identity of a man in a portrait and she retorts, "Jesus Christ, now we don't recognise our father." Arjun responds, "This used to be a black and white photograph" and Dimple remarks that he used to be in the pink of health. Arjun says, "Health? I don't think you realise this man is dead."

And this

Naseeruddin Shah weeps for his lost love Fanny. Deepika's response is to gag him and pour water over his face. She later asks him, "Do you want to die never knowing what happened to the only person you wanted to spend your whole life with?." Naseeruddin Shah: "I don't want to die."

And therein begins the quest to find Fanny. Romance blooms between Deepika and Arjun and between Pankaj Kapur and Dimple Kapadia as they journey through the picturesque locales of Goa.

Finding Fanny, which has been directed by Homi Adajania, will hit the screens on September 12 this year.

Finding Fanny will have two versions

Two years after Cocktail, Homi Adajania is back with a quirky misadventure; this time about a motley crew looking for a postman's lost love through Goa. The Hindi and English versions of Finding Fanny will open in theatres on September 12, across India and in 40 international territories, which form the diaspora markets targeted by most main stream Bollywood films.

But Mirror has learnt that Finding Fanny will also make the rounds of non-diaspora theatres in the US, Europe and the Far East, three-four months after its September release.

"The difference between the two versions is just threefour minutes and not a complete re-edit. This English version will be cut by Nick Moore to cater to that audience," admits Homi. Moore has directed films like Wild Child (2008) and Horrid Henry: The Movie (2011) but is better known as the editor of The Full Monty (1997) which bagged him a BAFTA nomination, Notting Hill (1999), About A Boy (2002) and Love Actually (2003).

WHAT'S NEXT FOR DEEPIKA PADUKONE?

What
There’s no doubt that Deepika Padukone is the reigning queen of Bollywood. With massively successful films like Race 2Yeh Jawaani Hai DeewaniChennai Express and Goliyon Ki Raas Leela Ram Leela all releasing the same year, this leggy lass managed to kick all of her competitors out of the race. An ecstatic Deepika had mentioned that the only thing she feels bad about is that all of her big films released in the same year itself. But Deep’s fans need not fear, Miss Padukone has a number of promising films lined up for us this year too.
First up for Deepika should be Homi Adajania’s film, Finding Fanny Fernandes. Starring Deepika Padukone, Arjun Kapoor and Ranveer Singh and set in Goa, Finding Fanny Fernandes is a hilarious and heartwarming bilingual film about a man’s search for his childhood love, Stefanie (Fanny) Fernandes, and how a group of dysfunctional characters go on a road trip with him to find her. The journey, riddled with a funny chain of events and life changing moments that impact everyone involved, forms the crux of the film. Deepika has already finished shooting for the film which is slated to release on the 4th of July, 2014.

Films Of India
We recently heard that Shoojit Sircar’s next film, titled Piku, will have Amitabh Bachchan playing the role of Deepika’s father. The film will have an unusual take on the father-daughter relationship and will feature Irrfan Khan in a special role too. Deep’s may start shooting for Piku in July so it may be unlikely that we’ll get to see the film before 2015.
But before the year is out, we will definitely see Deepika in Farah Khan’s Happy New Year. First slated as a December release, the film has apparently been pre-poned to the Diwali season. StarringShahrukhDeepika PadukoneAbhishek BachchanSonu Sood, Boman Irani and Vivaan Shah,Happy New Year has been described as a 'musical heist film', a unique genre which probably only a director like Farah Khan can pull off.

And how can we forget Rajinikanth’s Kochadaiiyaan. The animated film which makes use of motion-capture too stars Rajinikanth and Deepika Padukone in the lead. Deepika’s fans will get to see her in a gorgeous animated avatar for the first time in Kochadaiiyaan which is set to release in the summer of 2014.
Only time will tell if 2014 manages to be just as good as 2013 for Deepika Padukone, but for now this babe can do no wrong.
